Paris Hatcher is a passionate, radical activist dedicated to working for a world safe for girls and women. Her activism is based in an intersectional approach which validates the lived experience of individuals and communities and works to challenge all systemic oppression. Paris’ activist interest focuses on women, in particular movements, such as reproductive justice, gender and racial justice and equity, ending sexual violence and violence against women, lgbtq communities of color and the South. She has her Master’s in Africana Women’s Studies and, is currently the Co-Executive Director of Georgians for Choice, the statewide coalition for reproductive justice.
Paris is a graduate of East Carolina University (B.A.Women’s Studies) where she was very active. As a student activist, Paris helped organize one of the first women’s organization (VOICE), worked with lgbtq students of color, and developed a weekly radio show to highlight the issues of marginalized students.
Prior to working with GfC, Paris was a youth program associate in Kingston, Jamaica where she worked with young Jamaican women on issues of healthy self-esteem, building life skills, and the importance of reproductive health. Paris was also instrumental as a lead organizer for an anti-rape campaign in Greensboro, NC, which was key in elucidating and prompting action to the pervasive nature of sexual violence within the community. This community led campaign was successful in gaining valuable media attention, university and police support which lead to the capture of a serial rapist in Greensboro.
